USL's Future Uncertain As Teams Look For Options

The Team Owners Association, a self governing board of USL team owners, has been until now, trying to negotiate with the USL parent company USISL Inc., a way to make the USL run and owned by its teams.

Negotiations have now come to a head as Nike Inc., the USISL’s parent company, has announced that the USL has been sold to NuRock Soccer Holdings which does not presently have a team in the USL Division-1 League.

The TOA, which includes the Montreal Impact, are now looking at all options that will allow for them to be part of a league that allows for self governing as FIFA regulations warrant.

Impact Settle for 1-1 Tie Vs Railhawks

The Montreal Impact managed a 1-1 tie against the 2^nd place Carolina Railhawks yesterday afternoon and maintained their 6^th place position in the USL Division 1 standings.

While

was able to take the lead on a Tony Donatelli header off a Adam Braz cross at the 33^rd minute of play, it was as if déjà vu had set in after the first half. 

Impact Face Carolina in First of Two At Saputo Stadium, Sunday

The Montreal Impact (9-10-5), fresh off a two game winning streak are looking to not only make it 3 in a row, but also attain a .500 record in the process. In a scheduling oddity, they will meet, for the first time this season and play the first of two home matches against the Carolina RailHawks (14-5-6) this Sunday at Saputo Stadium, at 3:30 pm (Radio-Canada,CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990, USLlive.com).

Impact Win Two Straight After 2-0 Shutout Over Austin Aztex

It was nice to see the smile on Matt Jordan's face again. The smile and look of satisfaction that he usually had after the Impact just won a game. It was back and so was Jordan.

The Impact's starting 'keeper was back between the posts for his third straight game but first one at home in a USL game since July 5th. With 7 games remaining in the regular season, the Impact started their 3 game home-stand with 2-0 shutout win over the Austin Aztex tonight at Saputo Stadium.

Als 34-25 Win Over Roughriders A Question Of Teamwork

Those that see life as the "glass being half empty" may be of the ilk that the Montreal Alouettes were lucky to be on the winning side of Friday's 34-25 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, citing weaker offense and lucky bounces due to turnovers. While arguments can be made that were it not for 5 Saskatchewan turnovers and a couple of picks, the score could have been different, it still remains that the Als' defence created those situations and the offense was able to adapt and overcome any resistance the Roughriders were handing them.

Impact Look to the Comfort of Home, Play Aztex Sunday

After a loss and most recently a win in their last two games on the road, the Montreal Impact (8-10-5) are back at home for a three game stretch and will look to string  a few together as they attempt to cement a spot in the USL playoffs prior to season's end. They will git it all started Sunday, when they host the Austin Aztex at Saputo Stadium, at 3:30 pm (Radio-Canada, FSW, CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990).

Impact Bests City Stars 2-1 in Cleveland

The Impact needed a win if they wanted to maintain their 6th place position in the USL standings. Their opponents? The last place Cleveland City Stars. The Impact got the three points they were looking for, however it wasn't guaranteed until the 75th minute with an, until recently, elusive, late goal by the Impact to put the game away 2-1.

Impact Loses to Puerto Rico 1-0

The Montreal Impact didn't start their two-game road trip the way they wanted, with a 1-0 loss against the Puerto Rico Islanders Saturday night, at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, in Bayamon.

The Islanders took the lead at the 37th minute, a John Krause header off a corner kick set play, and that would be all that they would need to defeat the Impact who have been having trouble scoring key goals of late.

Impact Head to Puerto Rico Saturday

The Montreal Impact head to Puerto Rico where they will face off against the Islanders this Saturday at 8 pm at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium, in Bayamon (USLlive.com).

Despite Wednesday's late game 1-0 loss to the Portland Timbers, with a win in this,the first match of a two-game road trip,  Montreal would remain in 6th position in the standings ahead of its closest rivals, the Miami FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Impact will then face the Cleveland City Stars, in Cleveland, Tuesday (7 pm, USLlive.com).

Impact Lose on Late Goal By Portland

The Montreal Impact held on until deep into the game, but surrendered the lone goal to Portland at the 83rd minute mark. It was a solid performance by the Impact who were taking on the best team right now in the USL, as Portland have increased their undefeated streak to 21 games.
