Mixed Martial Arts Expo announced today the signing of a joint venture
agreement that will see two of the world’s most prestigious submission
grappling tournaments held on site at MMA Expo events across Canada starting
with MMA Expo Montreal on October 17 and 18, 2009. This agreement also marks
the first time ever that the Abu Dhabi Combat Club No-Gi Submission Series and
the Abu Dhabi Pro BJJ Series will be held on the same weekend and in the same
venue.

Two legends of mixed martial arts will finally meet this Saturday night in Portland. One made his name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the other in Pride Fighting Championship. Both of whom are former champions, Randy "The Natural" Couture, has held titles in the UFC's light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions while Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is a former Pride heavyweight champion and UFC interim heavyweight champion. A common fate in both of their last bouts, Couture and Nogueira both lost their UFC titles in the second round by TKO to Frank Mir and now heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. One thing is for sure, the winner of this bout will shoot his way back into the contender mix, while the loser might be left thinking, "What next?".

With this goal in mind a portion of the proceeds will be going to SOLDIER ON, which contributes to optimizing the functional independence of ill or injured Canadian Forces personnel or former personnel by delivering programs and services and facilitating and integrating opportunities that support their full and active participation in physical fitness, health promotion and sport.
An Ottawa run promotion; Wreck MMA will be run with the purpose to develop the skill and abilities of the local athletes and giving them a place to showcase their talent and give them the opportunities to further their careers. Wreck is led by its President, Ottawa’s Nick Castiglia, who has been a fixture within the martials arts community for years as both a competitor and event organizer. Also on board as the Wreck matchmaker is Alex Caporicci. Caporicci has been involved with multiple MMA organizations as promoter and matchmaker and is currently the matchmaker for Warrior-1 and Ringside.
